Olly Scott studied Politics and Social Policy at Birmingham University and stayed on in Birmingham to work for Navigators, helping to run their student work on campus. Having worked for London City Mission's youth and schools team, he is now a youth worker at Birmingham City Mission. Olly has a compelling story of God breaking through in his life and intervening amid his strivings and longing for truth and freedom in Christ. Olly is a gifted communicator and apologist among young people and students.

Ignyte Youth are the worship group for Trinity Christian Centre and it exists for one reason: to lead people into real, unashamed encounters with God through praise and worship. Raised up within their own church community, Ignyte Youth blends passionate musicianship with a genuine hunger for God's presence, turning every set into more than a performance - an invitation to worship. Using an array of instruments and vocals, this inspiring young band are ready to help direct people to Jesus.

Jessica Leslie is a UK-based vocal powerhouse, fusing various genres and sounds from Power Ballads, R&B, Soul and Rock, creating an eclectic sound. Her faith is boldly and cleverly conveyed in her music. People of all different walks of society are able to engage with her content.

We look forward to welcoming the Naked Truth Project to the event. This is a charity that seeks to educate people about the damaging impacts of p*rnography.  They have over the last decade visited hundreds of schools across the UK delivering well-received, engaging sessions. NT also visits churches to present to young people in clear, age-appropriate ways, to church leaders and congregations, and lead workshops for parents. Their powerful Manifesto can be viewed here. This issue is coming to the fore, particularly as the DofE now require schools to teach about it and it’s dangers as part of the RSE curriculum at secondary age. It is helpful for parents and young people to be equipped and supported in responding to it. Kate Harvey is NT’s Education Lead for the Midlands. She is a qualified teacher and experienced practitioner and speaker on behalf of NT and is used to speaking to young people across the age ranges. In their presentations, NT do notmention anything that might fuel children’s imaginations or stir them to access things that they should not know about. They talk about harms using couched and gentle language. Certain terms are used (p*ornography, sex, consent, body image) because they need to be used. Things are always covered in age-appropriate ways aimed at protecting our children, and nothing unnecessarily explicit is covered.

At Fulfil , Kate plans to:

- Introduce the issue, giving awareness of harms, all in the context of a light touch approach on content given the young audience.

- Point us to Jesus as the solution to all our sin, struggles and needs.

- Inform young people and youth leaders of NT’s excellent new tools and resources for supporting youth in seeking to live pure daily lives of discipleship.

Her aim is to support and equip young people amid the dangers they may face, without losing their innocence. If parents would prefer for their children not be in the session they can be kept out the back room or foyer after breaktime to forgo the NT content before coming back into the hall afterwards to enjoy the next artist in the line-up.

Fulfil is for ages 11-18. Whilst we are happy to admit Year 6s we cannot admit children younger than that. We aim to make the event relevant to young people across the age spectrum. Usually church youth leaders bring their young people to the event and they will have their own parental consent procedures in place. Where parents are bringing and dropping off children who are not part of a youth group which is attending the event, they will need to return a consent form for each child attending. These are available on the night or email youthteam@birminghamcitymission.co.uk and we will send one to you. Alternatively parents are welcome to stay for the event (there is a café area in the foyer).

Fulfil is an interdenominational event, run by Birmingham City Mission, held for Birmingham church youth groups. It is usually held 3 times a year and is attended by up to two dozen churches of varying denominations. Fulfil provides an ideal opportunity for young people from different groups and backgrounds to come together to enjoy a fun night out in a different setting to the norm; a chance to see the wider Birmingham Kingdom picture; and to be encouraged in faith as young people worship Jesus together, enjoy wholesome entertainment and hear from God’s word and the challenge of the gospel for their lives.

That’s the aim of the event - to help young people, whether Christian or not, to grow in their understanding of Jesus. Whatever their starting point, they will be challenged and encouraged by the gospel at Fulfil and what it means to live as a follower of Jesus in the modern world among one’s friends, schools peers and community. We cover both the ABC of the gospel and also delve into some deeper apologetics questions.

We seek to equip young people in living out their faith and to support youth leaders and parents in their outreach and discipleship of young people. We also provide resourcing opportunities for leaders and signpost to organisations that provide specialist input on a host of areas and themes.

We have a different creative arts guests at each event - a band, artist, or entertainer - alongside someone giving spoken input whether, a ‘preach’, a talk, a testimony or a ‘spoken word’!

‍

The event is an ideal opportunity for young people to invite along non-Christian friends and to meet young people from other churches. Pastors, vicars and youth leaders bring their young people by car, taxi or minibus and enjoy the event alongside them. Sometimes other non-church groups come along, including brigade groups and school Christian Union groups. Individual families are welcome to come too.
