Fundraising with fortitude
Thank you to the 45 brilliant Sleepout participants who stuck it out through a cold February night in BCM's car park with only a cardboard box for shelter.
The willingness and stamina of everyone who took part really does help people in our city who have no home.
Thank you too to the helpers who stayed all night, to Chris who told his story of homelessness, and to the Lord Mayor and her consort who came along to chat and encourage.
Sadiqah, one participant, said of her night, 'The cardboard box experience is something I will never forget. So humbling. Since doing the Sleepout so many people have been sharing their experiences of being homeless with me, whether sofa surfing or sleeping on the streets. Would I do it again? I would like to say yes, but due to it being so cold, I'm really not sure! Thanks for the opportunity to raise funds for such a worthwhile cause.'
