Thank you, Sleepouters

Hear from BCM's Care Centre, sending their thanks in a special video to a fantastic group of Sleepouters who spent a very rainy night out this February.

THANK YOU to the fantastic group who took on a soggy night out in a cardboard box this February and raised essential funds for BCM's work with homeless people at the Care and Resource Centres. We are so grateful for your energy and stamina, and being willing to take part.

Thank you too to the Deputy Lord Mayor of Birmingham  for coming to chat with everyone, and to Tracey and the team from Asda who brought doughnuts and helped with all that was needed to keep the Sleepouters warm and well fed. This group has been a great support to our Sleepout for several years now.

One family of four came all the way from Welshpool for the night to be a part of it - Carl Pritchard, his mum Ann, brother Craig and son Samuel. Carl said, 'I would certainly do it again, although the weather was horrendous. I love kindness and what you do at BCM, so I thought, "I've got to do this for the homeless" even though I didn't know how it would turn out. My colleagues at my company, Invertek Drives, have been so interested and supportive about what I was doing and I never thought we would raise so much - it's my first time fundraising for something I care about a lot.'

Louisa Tam was another participant. She said, 'It rained the whole day but fortunately stopped around 11.30pm. I tried to slip into my cardboard box with a mat and sleeping bag. It's difficult to sit inside because the box is small and crowded. I kept myself warm with waterproof clothing, which the homeless may not have. It's difficult for the street sleepers in the cold winter nights in the UK. The homeless ministry is extremely helpful to them physically and spiritually. Let's remember one of the least of our brothers which Jesus mentioned in Matthew 25. Praise the Lord for this unforgettable experience!'
